about

Wasted Wine's 5th and most mature release Adam and Robert invite Robert and Lou Buckingham along to help define what will eventually become the future sound of WW, transforming the Duo into a Band.

Still thoroughly composed "And this is what sets Wasted Wine apart in general. Each song features deliberate, careful orchestration. Few things come in as whimsical or loosely planned. Think of each note played as a textural brush stroke in a Van Gogh painting. Wasted Wine’s meticulous treatment towards how the music is composed, played, and arranged within each track resonates a certain focus, so that while some pieces stick out, there remains a cohesiveness to the whole work, a cohesiveness that easily feigns away any potential insult of “kitsch” or “gimmick” one might throw at other acts attempting such theatricality."

Track Name: Perpetual Spirals
I'll need no helicopters some blessed day
I'll need no holy water, I'll fly away
Ten Thousand eyes below me, No more to be
By day a man of anger, by night pursued in dreams

You let me down little lonely one
your mouth to small for words
I turn around, I'm the only one
We strive but are obscured

I'm like the book of poems upon your shelf
You put your arms around me, then you do something else
Track Name: October 10th
Now early Sunday morning on court street second floor.
The sound of brick and metal comes, the rain begins to poor.
I was waiting for the coming summer heat, at the window, when i fell into the street.

And all my dreams, all my dreams, all my dreams come tumbling down along with me.

Colors blurred and faded, I hear the angel’s breath.
I feel his gentle whisper, her mouth upon my neck.
I was planning to sow up my broken past. On the street my life’s now shattered like a glass.

And all my dreams, all my dreams, all my dreams come tumbling down along with me.

All this time I wondered why I walked in heavy chains.
The shadows fell down softly casting curses on my name.
Light shown blankly through a painted yellow glass.
I’m saved alas, but never falling down. At the edge I grip my saviors folded gown.

And all my dreams, all my dreams, all my dreams come tumbling down along with me.

Early Sunday morning on court street second floor.
The sound of brick and metal comes, the rain begins to poor.
I was waiting for the coming summer heat, at the window, when i fell into the street.
Track Name: Her Brother, He Gave Me Some Words To Remember
Her brother, he gave me some words to remember
as he lay on his deathbed, in the bleak mid-December --
some words like a message you put in a bottle
and throw off an island out into the water.

Now, I had Her picture and I had Her name,
that was all,
but I had a promise to keep all the same.
So when the roll was called,
I was gone...

wind and tide... flags flew over my head...
Spanish wine... and my captain's face was red...
but in the stillness and fullness of time,
I arrived, I arrived, I arrived...

Oh, I first spoke Her name as a whisper,
in the stalls, in the stations and stores.
In a matter of days I was shouting,
in a matter of weeks I was poor,
but the blind, and the lame, and the wretched,
who I said were the least of the least,
spoke some wandering words in confession;
I was soon on a train heading east.

While the wheels were wailing I was wondering where I was,
why the world was whirling so, and where the hell She'd gone,
but while my will was wandering, on some snow-white mountain pass,
an engineer was drinking and a train ran off the tracks.
As I emerged unscathed, the engine's flames were growing higher,
so combed through the wreckage, and I pulled out one survivor.
Now there was something in her eyes that struck me as she shivered:
she didn't look much like Her -- so I fed the flames Her picture.

One moment stretched through time has brought the evening to her knees
and she whispers soft so I bend on down to hear.
Our children play so lonely in the shadows of themselves
and we look so real but find it hard to speak.
The windows been left open. shit the cat has stole again.
But we don’t mind we’ve got a lifetime to make up, before we wake up.

Sundays full of secrets when the pastors on the pull.
We nod our heads down lower than the pew that’s started to sink.
And your envious white dress has caught the fishermen off guard.
You serve them a catch and they complain of nothing but bone.
The light creeps in unwilling in fluorescent harmony
while the man in white reads the time and says “Hey son, it’s time to go home. I’m sorry, she gone.”

Ohh my darling
Ohh my love
You were never meant for this world
You were never meant for this world

Ohh my love
Ohh my baby
You will never make me whole
You will never make me whole
Track Name: The Dance
You do live here with me. We're stronger than all their feet.
Tapping. Slapping. Tearing up the earth.
When I walk it's felt, not heard, but heart, and sunk right through.
And I say, isn't she beautiful?

My arms reach out in dreams. My life penetrates.
My voice calls like feathers, slinging quick remarks
to the fellow who tips his hat at the edge of the table.
I'll see you have heard his matter of fact tone.
And everyone knows I love you.
Track Name: White As Snow
Well it's three in the morning when the socialites come home
and I'm looking out the window with a mirror and a dovetail comb
switchblade sticking out the top of her socks and
"mama, I'm sorry I'm so obnoxious"
o roll away these precious stones!

now key to the city and you wouldn't even know my name
sunday morning and the beggar at the gate was lame
saturday night it's the casual scene
with the topless(maybe say belly :wink wink:) dancers and the awkward lean
o roll away these precious stones!

now hand on the bible and I cannot tell a lie
look to the east little mother as the years go by
Pyrex stirrers and the kids don't look
in Virginia, there ain't shit to do but cook
o roll away these precious stones!
you load sixteen keys and what do you get?
cooking in the kitchen live a life of regret
o roll away these precious stones!
Track Name: You Instead
I walked the ragged streets of Rome thinking today could be the day. I had a shiny bit of chrome, but even that has blown away. We said before they took our lives we'd make the ancient lanes run red. Now inspector Moreau's to dead to drive and I wish that it was you instead.

All of our days were wild and green. After the gloom came blessed light. Catherine arrayed was like a queen, I on the left and you on the right. She wasn't quite what you'd described but I never trusted what you said. Everyone's sorry that she died and I wish that it was you instead.

Now that your true face is revealed, I can't believe I was so wrong. Things that we hoped, we dreamed were real. Things that we real we dreamed were gone.

I had such rich and bitter tears when I was weak and played along. But, in the intervening years I've found my place among the strong. Mine is the thumb that winds your clocks. Mine is the hand that makes your bed. I slide my knife into your lock, wishing that it were you instead.
Track Name: Caroline
Verse 1

Cracked dark pans and black marked hands
hold the secret to the kitchen’s lock (what is it?)
We all know what always goes
in the cook’s special chicken stock (glub glub!)

Well poor old Dave, hell he tried to be brave
he was smart to refuse our help (hahaha!)
But being tired and weak from the lack of good
sleep, let’s just say he knows how Jonah felt!
(AHHHH!)

Chorus

Oh where did He go?
Oh where did He go?
Only Caroline knows!
Only Caroline knows!

The pot is boiling over
and our hands are stained with heat
with the captain gone mane every-thing's wrong
and us boys are nothing but meat! (mmmmm...)

Verse 2

Saundra pays her own damn way
and the money’s all made of flesh (oh la la!)
Stretched and thin her sun-burnt skin
is enough to steal a sailors’ breath! (oh!)

Well Caroline’s axe and a pair of red jacks
weren't enough to save her daughter Meg! (mommy!)
And father Pete, had an ace in his sleeve
hell it cost him an arm and leg! (scream ahhhh!!!!)

Chorus

Oh where did she go?
Oh where did she go?
Only Caroline knows!
Only Caroline knows!
HA!
(solos)

You can smell the skin a burnin’
while the grease it pours like rain
and the only think that we’ve learned down here
is how to serve your fellow mane! (mmmm...)

Verse 3

Friend and foe are words we know
who remembers what they mean? (not me...)
Life’s a play and everyday
someone acts their final scene. (aww..)

Now courts and schools may have their rules
and the church has it’s decrees, (Oh)
but what things were are just a blur
after forty days at sea!
(AHHHH!)

Chorus

Oh where did they go?
Oh where did they go?
Only Caroline knows!
Only Caroline knows!

Now Michael, Jack, and Ruby
Mr. Bones and Little Will...
Well, we don’t mourn cause we’ve all been gorged
and we know their with us still!

Outro

(Buck Samuel Dollars was a good man. Some say he was a great man. But he was more than those things, he was above all..... a delicious man!!!!!!!)

Oh where did he/she/they go?
Only Caroline knows.
Track Name: When The Dogs Came
When the dogs came, ran we to shelter,
our boots wet under the snow
between windmills, cellars and beams,
smoke in our eyes, like it all was a dream.

There were two locks under the dresser.
When night fell, we burned their buildings,
their flags, down in bitter defeat.
Those were the days that were wicked and sweet.

Then the spring came; all things were silent.
The sun crept in through the holes
of abandoned hovels and homes.
We were so free with no lives of our own.

Now the clock ticks,
And I'm bored by your beauty,
now the page turns
and I'm sick of your smiles,
now the wax drips,
and your bed doesn't suit me,
now the wick burns.
and you no longer move me,
but I'm still afraid of your halothane eyes.

Now we're titled and troubled with no one to blame,
and it seems like a strange way to live.
Oh, I've heard the sermon and I've heard the Name;
there are some things I cannot forgive.
Ivory, marble, and African brass,
my vision's transfixed and at last I collapse on the floor.

Oh, the grey lords step out from the shadows,
their fields dry. Drunk in the harbor,
they dance bare on the fisherman's pier.
I merely stare at your great chandelier,

for it's your voice, curling around me,
your lace and your linen that keeps me concealed
from the red hands and the ebony ears
in this burned-out apartment while time disappears.

Now the clock ticks,
And I'm bored by your beauty,
and the page turns,
and I'm sick of your smiles,
and the wax drips,
and your bed doesn't suit me,
and the wick burns.
and you no longer move me,
but I'm still afraid of your halothane eyes.

And I wish we'd known nothing of porcelain skin,
of sapphires, rubies, and gold,
of the pallor of angels, of crystal, of sin,
and I wish that the air had stayed cold.
Why look away? There's no shame feeling small
when the men at the door and the clock on the wall
have us lined up, and torn down, and measured out, all.
Your face is obscure now, but I still recall when the dogs came.
Track Name: The Hunchback Of Rimini
In a war torn land
lived a brave, bold man
who strove to charter peace.
To prove his faith he took a vow
to marry sweet Francesca.

“Brother Paolo, please,
you must help me,”
he cried while on his knees.
She’ll never marry seeing me --
I’m the hunchback of Rimini.
(Chorus)

What’s the saddest fate you can imagine?
How could God be so cruel
to fan the flames of passion
that fortunes breath can't cool?

With the hunchbacks seal
Paolo went to steal
her heart in countries aid
"Once bound by law when we return
we shall end this masquerade"

Once the two were wed,
Paolo's heart, it bled.
He longed to break disguise.
"I want her for my self," he thought
"I can't bear my brother's lies"

What’s the saddest fate you can imagine?
How could God be so cruel
to fan the flames of passion
that fortunes breath can't cool?

In Francesca's Room
Paolo broke costume
and took her with a kiss
the hunchback came to bid goodnight
when he saw the lover's tryst (when he witnessed the lovers tryst)

So he drew his knife
then he killed his wife
and ignored his brother's pleas
he yelled to them "Dont fuck with me
I'm the hunchback of Rimini!!!"

What’s the saddest fate you can imagine?
How could God be so cruel
to fan the flames of passion
that fortunes breath can't cool?
Track Name: A Picture Of You
Now if you leave to seek your fortune, you will be far away from me,
but I at least should get a portion. Picture me rollin’ on the open seas.
So if you come back bearing diamonds, or foreign bills, or foreign guns,
who else, my love, will help you hide them?
And can you trust them to be silent?
Who else will offer you asylum when you come?

And I will wait for you, Aisha, on these lonely afternoons
when the wind is blowing free, so come back soon.

It’s those fast cars, fine clothes, that life fit for a king.
As I throw out my money like paper, boys, it don’t mean nothing to me.
I thought your dreams had already come true.
I got screens rollin’ down but I don’t have a picture of you.

Now if you leave to seek your fortune, I’ll suffer many restless days.
But if you’re certain than you’re certain, though you might be a different person, you might change.
So come back weak and heavy laden. Or come back bronze and overjoyed,
and let me know I was mistaken as I lay down among the ravens,
and let me know that what was taken was not destroyed.

Track Name: I Will Never Forgive You
I will never forgive you for leaving me
The way that you did back on Barber Street
I will never make love to, nor hold you closer
than a foolish and awkward friend

Through the slats in my window I found my true love
Sent to my eyes from the heavens above
Black hair like coal and sapphire eyes
Each day like the last a new plan I’ve devised

To catch her and say “Hey let’s go for a drink”
Today was that day, or so I did think

Oh I’ve seen from a distance she gets drunk from a thimble
I’m sure if we’d met she’d been limber and nimble
Red roses and wine, some bitter dark chocolate
At last at her door, a deep breath as I knocked it

And to my suprise her great door just flew open
He things were all missing, I stood there so broken

I will never forgive you for leaving me
The way that you did back on Barber Street
I will never make love to, nor hold you closer
than a foolish and awkward friend

Thirteen days of depression, broken, cold hearted
I peered through the bushes to where she’d departed
and what did I see, but a horrible sight
A much longer bed, a new tenant I spied

and who could imagine or be so damn clueless
to think you could fill her place just would be foolish

nightfall again, alone in my tree
a silent observer when what did I see
She was dressed like and angel so slender and long
from her head to her toes a cascade made of blond

and this time much quicker yet just as the last
as she opened her door she was warm but alas

I could never forgive her for leaving me
The way that she did back on Barber Street
I could never make love to, nor hold her closer
than a foolish and awkward friend

Now as we sit hand in hand I feel so listless
She wants me to marry her just before Christmas
Hey grey eyes still plead how they wish to be blue
Her blond hairs still missing it’s ebony hue

and now I can’t sleep without wanting to see her
my new love can’t help that I want her to be her

as she tried on her dress and the local boutique
I was so quick oh so light on my feet
I ran down the street hoping no one would find me
that’s when I hear her voice circling around me

and now as I sit, in my new poplar tree
I’ve learned it’s not love that’s important to me

Oh of course I forgive you for leaving me
the way that you did back on Barber Street
I will always be true to and hold you closer
as a distant yet awkward friend.
